Switzerland's AI reality: finance, pharma, precision industry
Swiss demand concentrates in banking and asset management, insurance, pharma and life sciences, and precision manufacturing. Confidentiality expectations are higher than in most markets: the first question is usually where data is processed and who can see it, and only the second is what the model does. Many clients therefore prefer on-premise or tenant-internal setups over convenient SaaS defaults.
Regulatory context: revFADP now, EU AI Act on export
Domestically, the revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) governs personal data, with sector rules from FINMA for financial institutions and professional secrecy obligations on top. There is no Swiss AI Act; the Federal Council has signalled alignment with the Council of Europe AI convention rather than a copy of the EU regulation. But the EU AI Act still reaches Swiss companies whose AI systems or outputs are used in the EU — which is why we assess both sides.

Does the EU AI Act apply to a Swiss company?
Not by virtue of being Swiss. It applies when your AI system is placed on the EU market or its output is used in the EU. That question needs a per-system answer, and it is the first thing we check.
What Swiss rules apply to AI today?
Primarily the revised FADP for personal data, plus sector supervision such as FINMA requirements and professional secrecy obligations. There is no separate Swiss AI act at present.
Can data stay in Switzerland?
Yes, where the architecture allows it. We design for tenant-internal or on-premise processing when confidentiality requirements demand it and fix the locations contractually.
Do you work in German with Swiss clients?
Yes, German or English. Documentation is delivered in the language your audit and management need.
